- We are homesteaders. We grow much of our own produce and try as hard as we can to waste nothing. If it can’t be eaten or preserved, it gets fed to the animals or put in the compost pile.
- We raise our own goats. We have dairy and meat goats. When our nannies are in milk Bobbi makes feta, labneh, ricotta, nigella and other delicious goat cheeses.
- We sell lamb and kid. Our livestock are pasture raised and humanely treated. When it is time to go to a USDA facility and use a very experienced shochet (ritual slaughter.) All products are USDA stamped and are either Star-K certified or halal acceptable.
- We produce our own wool. We have a small herd of alpacas and every year we take their fleece for cleaning, carding, and spinning or to come back as roving.
- We host reunions, weddings, get-togethers, Shabbosim, or groups interested in learning or experiencing farm life.
- We cook!!! Pops is a dedicated fire chef and Bobbi has been making her own breads, cakes, pies and goodies since she was 8 years old.
- We are environmentally conscious. Our farm is solar powered and nothing goes to waste. We believe that G-d gave us stewardship of creation it is our mission to live in harmony with our land, our flocks, our gardens and our pets.
- We love our farm and desire to share it with those who want to know what homesteading and farming life is all about. We don’t claim to have all the answers or do everything to perfection. But our farm and our animals are a big part of our life and one we happily share.
- We do dogs, (and cats.) We have a Dane (I tease him by telling him that he’s only a good Dane and not a Great Dane, for which is suitably chagrined), a Presa Canario, 2 and Kommondorok who live with us in the house. Our herd is protected by 2 Maremmas and a Caucasian Ovcharka. Our cats are two Siamese, a Ragamuffin and a bunch of farm cats.
- Everyone has a job on Farscape Farm. The goats give milk and meat. The alpacas share their wool. The chickens provide us eggs as do the ducks. The guinea hens are on tick patrol. And the geese provide us meat. The dogs protect and the outdoor cats keep the rodent population under control. The house cats? Well, they are around to look pretty. But they consider that a job, even though we humans might not.
